Airdrie Public Library’s February Events Ignite Community Spirit
February is an exciting month at the Airdrie Public Library (APL), offering a variety of events aimed at engaging the community and celebrating reading. The library kicks off the month with a unique fundraiser organized by the Advocates for Airdrie Public Library Society. The event, titled “A Blind Date with a Book,” allows patrons to purchase a wrapped book for a pay-what-you-can fee. One lucky participant will find a golden ticket inside their book, winning a limited-edition Talk Nerdy to Me t-shirt and a behind-the-scenes tour of the library.
In addition to this, APL is hosting a Galentine’s Day event titled “Pretty in Pink” for girls aged 13 to 18. This celebration of female friendship promises an evening filled with vibrant activities and fun, allowing attendees to connect with one another in a lively atmosphere.
The library is also participating in the City of Airdrie’s annual Cocoa Trail on February 14. This self-guided event invites participants to explore downtown Airdrie, indulging in sweets from local businesses. APL will be providing complimentary hot chocolate while supplies last, enhancing the community experience.
Another highlight of the month is Freedom to Read Week, taking place from February 23 to 28. During this week, APL encourages visitors to engage in discussions and activities that celebrate the freedom to read. The event aims to raise awareness about the importance of choice and curiosity in literature, reflecting the values Canadians hold regarding reading.
Throughout February, APL will continue to offer a range of programs for children, youth, and adults. However, there will be a brief pause in children’s and youth programming from February 22 to March 8, while adult programming extends into March.
For more details on all upcoming events and programs, interested individuals can visit the library’s official website at www.yourapl.ca. APL’s February offerings embody a commitment to fostering community engagement through literature and shared experiences, making it a month to look forward to.
