University of Lethbridge Unveils Ambitious Research Plan
The University of Lethbridge (U of L) has announced a new initiative aimed at enhancing its research capabilities. The institution introduced its Research and Creative Activities Plan (RCAP), designed to inspire innovative ideas and foster significant impact through a “focused and fearless approach.”
Dr. Dena McMartin, Vice-President of Research, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that U of L was established 60 years ago in response to the demand for a local university in southern Alberta. She expressed pride in the university’s commitment to research and creative activities, which motivates the entire academic community.
“The research work that is done here is intentional and strategically focused, building on our strengths, nurturing collaboration, sharing expertise and breaking new ground. This plan represents those ideals,” Dr. McMartin stated.
Framework Built on Collaborative Input
The RCAP is structured around four fundamental focus areas, which aim to align the university’s research agenda with both community needs and global challenges. According to a U of L news release, the plan was developed through extensive consultations involving faculty members, students, community partners, and corporate stakeholders. The collaborative efforts of the Research Planning Committee played a critical role in shaping this strategic framework.
The university aims to leverage the RCAP to not only enhance its research profile but also to contribute positively to society. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation, U of L seeks to ensure that its research initiatives are relevant and impactful.
