Dixon High School Honors December Student of the Month, James Cocar
Dixon High School has recognized senior James Cocar as the Student of the Month for December 2023. Cocar, the son of Bunyan and Rachel Cocar, has made a significant impact in both academic and extracurricular activities at the school.
Academic Pursuits and Aspirations
Cocar cites his AP Calculus class as particularly engaging, describing it as a challenging yet rewarding experience. “It heavily challenges me but is extremely rewarding mastering new topics,” he stated. This enthusiasm for learning reflects his dedication to academic excellence.
Looking ahead, Cocar plans to pursue a career in the STEM field, with aspirations of becoming a mechanical engineer. He also aims to continue his passion for music, specifically through saxophone performance. His goal is to dual major in both mechanical engineering and saxophone performance, demonstrating a commitment to balancing technical skills with artistic expression.
Extracurricular Involvement and Community Engagement
Outside the classroom, Cocar is actively involved in various extracurricular activities. He particularly enjoys participating in the scholastic bowl and municipal band. These experiences not only enhance his education but also allow him to contribute to his community.
One of Cocar’s most cherished memories at Dixon High School is performing for younger students within the Dixon Public Schools district. He finds these moments inspiring, stating, “Performing for the younger students is always special; it always inspires me to continue making music.”
Cocar’s passion for music and academic pursuits illustrates his ambition and dedication to making a positive impact in his future career. He expresses a hopeful vision for his future, aiming to create a fulfilling career out of the things he loves, particularly through music and engineering.
As December comes to a close, James Cocar stands out not only as a talented student but also as a role model for his peers. His achievements serve as a testament to the vibrant and supportive environment at Dixon High School.
