Students in the Niagara region are set to embark on a two-week winter break, with their last day of school occurring on Friday, December 22, 2025. The winter holiday will conclude on January 5, 2026, when students will return to their classrooms.

School Calendar Alignment Across Boards

This break applies to students attending both the District School Board of Niagara and the Niagara Catholic District School Board, including those enrolled in French-language institutions such as Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir and Conseil scolaire Viamonde. Notably, both English and French boards share an identical academic calendar for the 2025-26 school year.

For parents and guardians, the Niagara Student Transportation Services will continue to provide transportation for students during this period. More details regarding bus schedules and routes can be found on their official website at nsts.ca.

Activities and Safety During the Break

As winter break approaches, families in the Niagara region may be looking for activities to engage in. Local attractions and seasonal events offer a variety of options for entertainment and exploration. For those interested in venturing beyond the region, a guide to activities throughout Ontario is also available.

As the holiday season unfolds, the emphasis is on ensuring a safe and enjoyable break for all students and their families. The region encourages everyone to take part in festive activities while remaining mindful of safety protocols.

Happy holidays to all students and families in the Niagara region! Enjoy the break, and return ready for the new year ahead.
