Brandon University and Assiniboine College Prepare for Winter Break
As the semester draws to a close, Brandon University is set to complete its fall exams by December 22, 2025. Students will then enjoy a holiday break starting on December 24, with the university reopening on January 5, 2026, for winter orientation. Most classes will resume on January 6, although some courses in the Faculty of Education will begin on January 5.
Holiday Operations and Athletics
The Healthy Living Centre will maintain limited operations during the holiday season, remaining open except for Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day. For specific hours and more details, students can visit HealthyLivingCentre.ca.
While students take a break from their studies, Bobcat Athletics teams are also on hiatus. Canada West competition will resume in January, with the basketball teams returning to play against the University of Winnipeg Wesmen on January 8 and 9, 2026, at the Healthy Living Centre.
Assiniboine College Events and Support
Assiniboine College will kick off the new year by hosting its Ag Partnership Breakfast on January 18, 2026, during Manitoba Ag Days. This event will not only provide a hearty breakfast but also support financial awards for students pursuing agricultural programs. Tickets can be purchased at assiniboine.net/events.
Additionally, the college encourages alumni to reconnect at the Ag Mixer on January 21, 2026, as part of the same event. While registration is not required, it is recommended to email [email protected] for planning purposes.
As students prepare for exams, Assiniboine College Students’ Association is offering Final Stretch Support on December 18, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Victoria Avenue East campus. This initiative, in collaboration with library staff and student advisors, aims to provide assistance and resources to students during this crucial time.
Both institutions are focused on ensuring students remain informed and supported as they conclude the fall semester and look forward to the new year.
