Plainfield Students Launch Engaging Wolf Pack Podcast on YouTube
Students at Wesmere Elementary School in Plainfield have initiated a new podcast titled the Wolf Pack Podcast, aimed at sharing school news and celebrating the accomplishments of both students and staff. The project is a creative venture of the school’s Alpha Wolf Club, a leadership program designed for fourth and fifth graders.
The club’s mission is to create a welcoming and respectful school environment where every student feels a true sense of belonging, as stated by its founders, speech-language pathologist Megan Eberle and fifth-grade teachers Clara Davidson and Ashley Richard. Members participate in various committees focused on school spirit, special events, and solutions to challenges faced by peers, among others.
The podcast marks a new initiative for the current academic year, with its first episode premiering on October 22, 2025. All 70 members of the club will have the opportunity to contribute to episodes throughout the school year. This program is designed to teach students valuable skills in collaboration, organization, and interpersonal communication.
In the inaugural episode, fifth-grade hosts Hayden Castro, Londyn Robinson, and Olivia Marcos discussed upcoming school events, including Unity Day, Trunk-or-Treat, and the school book fair. They also shared insights on friendship and conducted an interview with former student Sofia Ramirez. Castro emphasized the podcast’s accessibility, noting, “Not all people have time to read a newsletter, but they can listen to the podcast in the car.” Robinson expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “It was fun and inspiring to do the first podcast.”
The Wolf Pack Podcast is uploaded monthly on YouTube by Eberle, with teachers encouraged to play the episodes during morning meetings. Eberle has highlighted the importance of student ownership in the project, stating that even those not hosting can influence the content. Davidson added, “Even if a student isn’t in the podcast, they still have ways to influence the content.”
This initiative not only enhances communication within the school community but also provides students with a platform to express their voices and creativity. As the podcast continues to develop, it promises to become a staple of school life at Wesmere Elementary, fostering both engagement and a sense of community.
