Plainfield Students Launch Wolf Pack Podcast to Share School Spirit
Students at Wesmere Elementary School in Plainfield have launched a new initiative to share school news and celebrate achievements through their own podcast, titled the Wolf Pack Podcast. This project is part of the school’s “alpha Wolf Club,” a leadership program designed for fourth and fifth graders.
The club aims to create a welcoming atmosphere where every student feels included. According to the program’s organizers, Megan Eberle, a speech-language pathologist, and fifth-grade teachers Clara Davidson and Ashley Richard, the club promotes various initiatives, including welcoming new students, enhancing school spirit, organizing special events, and now, producing the podcast.
The Wolf Pack Podcast, which debuted on October 22, 2025, represents a new effort for the current school year. All 70 members of the club will have opportunities to participate in podcast episodes throughout the year. This rotation allows students to develop essential skills, such as teamwork and organization, while also improving their communication abilities.
In its inaugural episode, fifth-grade hosts Hayden Castro, Londyn Robinson, and Olivia Marcos discussed upcoming events like Unity Day, Trunk-or-Treat, and the school book fair. They also explored the qualities of friendship and interviewed former student Sofia Ramirez. Castro emphasized the podcast’s accessibility, stating, “Not all people have time to read a newsletter, but they can listen to the podcast in the car.”
Robinson expressed enthusiasm about the experience, noting that creating the first episode was both fun and inspiring. The podcast is intended to be released monthly on YouTube by Eberle, with teachers encouraged to incorporate it into their morning meetings.
Davidson highlighted that the podcast is a platform for all students, stating, “Even if a student isn’t in the podcast, they still have ways to influence the content.” This inclusive approach ensures that the podcast reflects the diverse voices of the student body.
Overall, the Wolf Pack Podcast not only serves as a medium for communication but also fosters a sense of community within Wesmere Elementary School. As the program evolves, it will undoubtedly continue to engage students, staff, and families alike.
