Putnam Library Hosts Snowflake Art Workshop on January 7
The Putnam County Public Library District’s McNabb Branch is set to host a creative event titled “Snowflake Wonders Art Workshop” on January 7, 2024, at 16:00. This engaging workshop will center around the pioneering work of Wilson “Snowflake” Bentley, who made history in 1885 as the first individual to photograph snowflakes. Bentley’s groundbreaking images showcased the intricate beauty of snow crystals, establishing the fact that no two snowflakes are alike.
Participants will begin the workshop by watching a short film that highlights Bentley’s life and his remarkable discoveries. Following the film, attendees will have the opportunity to create their own snowflakes using a variety of artistic materials, including oil pastels, watercolor, and salt. The hands-on approach aims to inspire creativity while educating participants about the science and art behind snowflakes.
The workshop is free and open to the public, making it an excellent opportunity for families and individuals interested in art and science.
