Red Deer Hosts 16th Annual Healthy Living Expo to Promote Wellness
Residents of Red Deer participated in the 16th Annual Healthy Living Expo this past weekend, gaining valuable insights into health and wellness. The event took place at the Westerner Park’s Harvest Centre on January 24, 2024, attracting local community members eager to enhance their lifestyles.
Rayna Heinzlmeir, the director of the expo, emphasized the event’s comprehensive focus on health. “Today is about every aspect of health and wellness,” she stated. The expo featured a diverse range of health professionals, fitness experts, and wellness vendors, providing attendees with a unique opportunity to explore local resources that can support their health goals.
Held annually in January, the expo caters to individuals who begin the new year with specific wellness aspirations. “This gives them the opportunity a couple of weeks later to get some help if they aren’t able to get going on their own,” noted Heinzlmeir. The event included more than 90 booths, showcasing a mix of returning vendors and newcomers, which keeps the experience fresh for regular attendees.
Heinzlmeir highlighted the community’s enthusiasm for the expo, stating, “We actually have a waiting list, which is really great. The community and business owners really embrace coming to this event.” The event aims to create an environment where attendees can ask questions, shop, and learn about the latest health trends.
The expo featured a main stage with various demonstrations throughout the day, including a headstand competition and a plank challenge. “The stage demos are a fun way for people to see what’s going on,” said Heinzlmeir. Additionally, a kid zone provided an interactive play area, making the event family-friendly.
Over the years, the Healthy Living Expo has expanded significantly. According to Heinzlmeir, the inaugural expo was held in a hotel banquet room, utilizing tables instead of booths. “That first one was great — it was packed and informative. But now we have more space for people to showcase what they’re all about,” she explained. This increased space allows attendees to interact more freely with vendors, fostering a vibrant atmosphere.
The Healthy Living Expo continues to grow, reflecting the community’s commitment to health and wellness. For those interested in learning more about future events or participating vendors, further information is available at theexpo.ca.
