Florish Adebayo, a recent graduate from Laurentian University, is making waves in the cosmetics industry with her innovative brand, Beiwty Rishrish Cosmetics. The company stands out for its scientific approach to beauty products, offering a range of non-toxic and cruelty-free options designed to cater to individuals with sensitive and eczema-prone skin.

Transitioning from academic life to entrepreneurship, Adebayo has recently established a workshop on Barrydowne Road in Sudbury, Ontario. With a degree in biochemistry, she applies her scientific knowledge to develop products that not only enhance beauty but also nourish and protect the skin. “Every product undergoes rigorous testing before it hits the market,” Adebayo explained as she demonstrated her testing process.

Her journey began while she was still in university, where she recently graduated in June 2023. Adebayo’s academic research focused on the effects of antibiotic use on hydrogen sulfide production in mouse tissues, but her passion lies in skincare. Having suffered from eczema herself, Adebayo has long been frustrated with the limited options available for effective and gentle products.

At 17, she started exploring homemade solutions. “I started doing research, even before I got into Laurentian. I started making products but hadn’t opened the business,” she recalled. Her initial efforts led her to gather friends to test her creations, which prompted Adebayo to realize her homemade remedies had commercial potential.

In 2021, she launched her first pop-up market at university, which was met with positive feedback. This success encouraged her to expand her product line, introducing items such as lip balms, oils, scrubs, and a full makeup range, all rooted in scientifically backed ingredients.

Adebayo emphasizes affordability in her products. “I wanted to ensure my products remain accessible, especially for those dealing with skin conditions,” she said. Her body oils, crafted from ingredients like castor, jojoba, coconut, and sweet almond oils, have provided her with relief from eczema flare-ups, which tend to worsen in the winter months. “I use this every single day, and it controls my flare-ups. I haven’t had flare-ups in such a long time,” she shared.

Another standout product is her shea butter and mango body yogurt. “It smells exactly like mango yogurt, even though there’s no yogurt in it,” she laughed, highlighting the blend of water, oils, and oatmeal that soothes irritated skin.

Each product is handmade in small batches to maintain quality. Adebayo has ambitious plans for the future, including expanding her production capabilities. “If I can find a lab that can manufacture my products for me with my formulas, that would be amazing,” she noted, though acknowledging the challenges of finding affordable manufacturing options.

Currently, consumers can purchase Beiwty Rishrish Cosmetics through the company website at www.beiwtyrish.com and at the Sudbury Market, held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Elm Place Mall. Adebayo’s dedication to clean beauty and her scientific approach are setting her apart in the competitive cosmetic industry, making her a notable figure to watch in the coming years.
