Jean Lorraine Goldade (née Fischer) passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by her family. Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, she was a beloved figure known for her strength and independence.

Jean was the second of three children born to August and Martha Fischer. Her upbringing on a family farm in Hilda, Alberta, instilled in her a strong work ethic that defined her life. Over the years, she lived in various places across Alberta, including Pincher Creek, Lloydminster, and Red Deer. In 1981, Jean and her husband, Albert Goldade, moved to a farm near Bentley, Alberta, where they built a home along the Blindman River, remaining there until her passing.

A Life of Accomplishments and Adventure

Throughout her career, Jean worked in the financial services and public sectors of the Alberta provincial government for over thirty years. She was also dedicated to her community, serving as a board member for the Red Deer Co-op for seven years. In retirement, which began in 1995, Jean and Albert enjoyed extensive travels across North America, Europe, and Asia.

In 2010, Jean embarked on a meaningful journey with her siblings to explore their ancestral roots in the Odessa region of present-day Ukraine. Their most recent trip in September 2025 took them to New York City, where they attended two games at Yankee Stadium featuring the Toronto Blue Jays.

In 2009, they acquired a home in Palm Desert, California, where they spent winters enjoying the sunny climate. Jean became an active member of her community in Sun City Palm Desert, participating in clubs such as the Canadian Club and the Quilters Society, where she held roles as Secretary and Treasurer. Jean also enjoyed golfing and was a regular participant in the ladies’ league at Lakewood, where she served as Club Treasurer.
