Ducharme Limousine Tours Launches Scenic Experiences in Cowichan Bay
Ducharme Limousine and Tours, a new venture based in Cowichan Bay, has officially launched its services, offering unique and luxurious transportation experiences throughout the beautiful Cowichan Valley. The company, owned and operated by Christopher Ducharme, began its soft launch earlier this year but has quickly garnered attention for its commitment to exceptional service and scenic routes.
With a focus on providing memorable outings, Ducharme hopes that clients will not only arrive in style but also appreciate the stunning landscapes between Victoria and Nanaimo. “I branded it after my family name, which means charming, or giver of happiness,” Ducharme stated. He expressed gratitude for the positive reception he has received, noting that many of his clients share a keen interest in exploring the valley in new and exciting ways.
Ducharme’s journey to entrepreneurship began in Devon, Alberta, where he spent 17 years, including a stint in the oil fields that allowed him to secure a Class One license. His move to Vancouver Island nine years ago was prompted by a personal invitation to house-sit for a woman living with terminal cancer, which ultimately led him to Cowichan Bay. Ducharme’s experience in the transportation industry includes work with BC Transit and driving for the Cowichan Capitals, a local hockey team.
The limousine business took off in 2017 when a colleague introduced him to the owner of Encore Limousine. This connection allowed Ducharme to gain invaluable experience, which paved the way for his own business venture. After investing in a 2003 Lincoln Town Car Super Stretch capable of accommodating up to eight passengers, he officially launched Ducharme Limousine and Tours in February 2023.
By summer, Ducharme had secured a partnership with Laketown Ranch and provided transportation for significant events, including the Bluegrass Festival and concerts featuring Nickelback. He found himself booked months in advance, catering to both local residents and visitors seeking memorable experiences.
Ducharme aims to create a personalized touch for each client, particularly during popular wine tours, which are especially sought after for celebrations like stagettes and anniversaries. “I coordinate all of the venues, plan the route, and handle dietary requests,” he explained. His hands-on approach includes accompanying clients into venues to ensure they have everything they need, further enhancing their experience.
In addition to offering tours, Ducharme has a passion for the arts, having self-published poetry and hosted an art show. As a unique touch, new clients receive a set of postcards featuring his photography of Vancouver Island. He also offers a special cheesecake, named Pretty Patty’s Cheesecake, in memory of his mother, providing a personal element to his service.
Ducharme Limousine & Tours embodies values of honesty, punctuality, and safety. Ducharme, who has maintained sobriety for nine years, takes pride in providing responsible transportation for clients who may have indulged during their outings. The limousine is equipped with a custom granite and stainless steel bar, a high-quality sound system, and features designed for comfort and privacy.
As Ducharme looks ahead to 2024, he is strategizing a formal launch event for the spring. Despite being a one-limo operation, he has received numerous requests for larger groups and has plans to apply for a temporary operating permit to accommodate these demands. “I have had requests for double limos and to serve larger groups, which will allow me to grow my services,” he noted.
Collaborating with local businesses is a key aspect of Ducharme’s strategy, having built relationships with wineries such as Enrico Winery, Telltale Winery, and Unsworth Vineyards. His connection with the Cowichan Bay Business Improvement Association has also helped him establish a strong network within the community.
Ducharme’s commitment to excellence is evident in his dedication to creating unforgettable experiences for his clients. He recalls taking students from Frances Kelsey High School to scenic lookouts for their graduation, making their special day even more memorable. “It’s fun to be part of such important moments in people’s lives,” he said.
As the holiday season approaches, Ducharme plans to continue offering unique experiences, including rides to view Christmas lights and other festive activities. “Cowichan Valley has so much beauty everywhere you go,” he remarked.
For those interested in exploring the stunning landscapes of Cowichan Valley, Ducharme Limousine and Tours promises a blend of luxury, personal service, and unforgettable memories. More information can be found on their website at ducharmelimo.com.
