Fieldcrest’s Macy Gochanour Sets New Scoring Record in Victory

In a remarkable display of talent, Macy Gochanour scored 32 points, leading the Fieldcrest Knights to a 60-46 victory over Tremont in the Heart of Illinois Conference/McLean County Tournament. The game, held in Tremont, saw Gochanour break the school scoring record for both boys and girls, surpassing the previous mark of 1,765 points set by Haley Ruestman. Gochanour now has a total of 1,787 points in her career.

Supporting Gochanour in the win, TeriLynn Timmerman contributed 15 points, while Pru Mangan added 10 points for Fieldcrest, which is now 11-11 overall. The Knights are set to face El Paso-Gridley in the fifth-place game on Saturday at 11:30 a.m..

In another significant matchup, the Princeton Tigresses secured a narrow victory over Kewanee with a score of 48-44. Keighley Davis was a standout performer, scoring 26 points, along with six rebounds and five steals. Payton Brandt added 17 points and four rebounds for Princeton, which improved its record to 16-4 overall and 4-2 in the Three Rivers Conference.

Bureau Valley dominated Monmouth United, winning 58-25, with Libby Endress leading the charge with 21 points. Brynley Doty and Ashlyn Maupin contributed nine points each, helping Bureau Valley improve to 16-7, with a 5-1 record in the Lincoln Trail Conference.

In a Three Rivers Conference contest, Newman Central Catholic triumphed over Mendota 56-24, while Erie-Prophetstown won against Hall 33-25, maintaining its lead throughout the match.

Women’s Basketball and Swimming Results

In women’s basketball, IVCC claimed a 59-52 victory over Highland, thanks to Jasmine Garman, who scored 17 points and secured 10 rebounds. Ashlyn Ehm added 16 points and eight rebounds, while Ella Derosett contributed 13 points and eight boards, improving IVCC’s record to 7-13.

In the boys swimming competition, the La Salle-Peru co-op achieved an impressive 14,499 points to win the L-P Pentathlon. They outperformed Metamora (14,373), Morris (9,424), and Olympia (4,923). Jonathan Neu won the individual title with 4,040 points, while teammate Wyatt Dauber placed third with 3,803 points. Neu also recorded the fastest time in the 100-yard butterfly at 56 seconds, and Dauber achieved the top time in the 100 backstroke at 56.91 seconds.

Meanwhile, in a closely contested boys basketball game, Tri-Valley edged out Fieldcrest in overtime, winning 75-70. Kash Klendworth shone with 40 points, but despite his efforts, Fieldcrest fell to 11-8.
