Fieldcrest’s Macy Gochanour Sets New Scoring Record in Victory

In a remarkable display of skill, Macy Gochanour scored 32 points, leading the Fieldcrest Knights to a 60-46 victory over Tremont during the Heart of Illinois Conference/McLean County Tournament. This win not only secured a place in the upcoming fifth-place game but also marked a historic moment for Gochanour, who broke the school scoring record with a total of 1,787 points, surpassing the previous record of 1,765 points set by Haley Ruestman.

Fieldcrest’s Performance and Upcoming Challenges

The Knights, now standing at 11-11 for the season, showcased a well-rounded performance. Alongside Gochanour, TeriLynn Timmerman contributed significantly with 15 points, while Pru Mangan added another 10. Fieldcrest will face El Paso-Gridley for the fifth place at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, aiming to build on this momentum.

In another notable game, Princeton edged out Kewanee with a score of 48-44, thanks to a stellar performance by Keighley Davis, who recorded 26 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Payton Brandt supported the Tigresses with 17 points and four rebounds, improving Princeton’s record to 16-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

The Newman Central Catholic team secured a solid win against Mendota with a score of 56-24, where Eva Beetz contributed with six points, six rebounds, and three steals. In women’s basketball, IVCC triumphed over Highland with a score of 59-52. Jasmine Garman led the Eagles with 17 points and ten rebounds, alongside Ashlyn Ehm, who tallied 16 points and eight rebounds. This victory improved IVCC’s overall record to 7-13.

In boys swimming, the La Salle-Peru co-op team dominated the L-P Pentathlon, accumulating a total of 14,499 points to secure first place against teams such as Metamora and Morris. Jonathan Neu stood out with an individual title, scoring 4,040 points and achieving the fastest time in the 100-yard butterfly at 56 seconds. Teammate Wyatt Dauber also impressed, finishing third with 3,803 points and leading the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.91 seconds.

In boys basketball, Tri-Valley narrowly defeated Fieldcrest in overtime, with a final score of 75-70. Despite Kash Klendworth scoring an impressive 40 points for the Knights, Fieldcrest’s record fell to 11-8 in the competitive Heart of Illinois Conference.
