Fieldcrest’s Macy Gochanour Sets Scoring Record in Victory

In a remarkable display of talent, Macy Gochanour scored 32 points, leading the Fieldcrest Knights to a 60-46 victory over Tremont in a Heart of Illinois Conference game. This win not only secured a spot in the tournament but also saw Gochanour break the school scoring record for both boys and girls, surpassing the previous mark of 1,765 points set by Haley Ruestman. With her new total at 1,787 points, Gochanour’s achievement highlights her significant contribution to the team.

Alongside Gochanour’s stellar performance, TeriLynn Timmerman added 15 points, while Pru Mangan contributed 10 points. The Knights, now standing at an overall record of 11-11, are set to face El Paso-Gridley in the fifth-place game scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

In another matchup, the Princeton Tigresses edged past Kewanee with a score of 48-44. Keighley Davis was the star of the game, recording 26 points, six rebounds, and five steals. Payton Brandt also made a notable contribution with 17 points and four rebounds, helping Princeton improve its record to 16-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

The Bureau Valley Storm secured a dominant victory over Monmouth United, winning 58-25. Libby Endress led her team with 21 points, while teammates Brynley Doty and Ashlyn Maupin chipped in with nine points each. Bureau Valley now holds a record of 16-7 and 5-1 in the Lincoln Trail Conference.

Meanwhile, in a Three Rivers Conference clash, Newman Central Catholic defeated Mendota 56-24, with Eva Beetz contributing six points, six rebounds, and three steals for the Trojans. The Erie-Prophetstown Panthers also claimed victory, defeating Hall 33-25 while maintaining a steady lead throughout the match.

In women’s basketball, the IVCC Eagles triumphed over Highland with a score of 59-52. Jasmine Garman was pivotal in the win, scoring 17 points and securing 10 rebounds. Ashlyn Ehm added 16 points and eight rebounds, while Ella Derosett contributed 13 points and eight boards, bringing the Eagles’ record to 7-13.

The boys’ swimming competition saw the La Salle-Peru co-op claim victory at their own L-P Pentathlon with a total of 14,499 points. They outperformed Metamora (14,373 points), Morris (9,424 points), and Olympia (4,923 points). Jonathan Neu was an individual standout, earning 4,040 points and recording the fastest time in the 100-yard butterfly at 56 seconds.

In a tightly contested boys’ basketball game, Tri-Valley narrowly defeated Fieldcrest 75-70 in overtime. Despite Kash Klendworth scoring an impressive 40 points for the Knights, they could not secure the win, leaving their record at 11-8.
