Honda Civic Dominates as Canada’s Best-Selling Car for 2025
The Honda Civic has secured its position as Canada’s best-selling passenger car for 2025, marking a significant milestone as it retains this title for the 26th time in the past 28 years. With a total of 31,054 units sold, including hybrids, sedans, and hatchbacks, the Civic continues to be recognized as “Canada’s Car.”
In addition to the Civic’s success, the Honda CR-V Hybrid has emerged as the best-selling hybrid vehicle in Canada for 2025. A total of 55,987 CR-Vs were purchased, with 35,325 of those being hybrid models. This accomplishment underscores Honda’s strong presence in the hybrid market, with hybrid-electric models of the Civic, CR-V, and Accord accounting for 43% of Honda Canada’s total sales this year.
Commitment to Quality and Excellence
Emile Korkor, Assistant Vice President at Honda Canada, emphasized the reasons behind the Civic’s enduring popularity. “Year after year, Canadians choose Civic because it consistently delivers what matters most; quality, reliability, value, and driving pleasure,” he stated. Korkor expressed gratitude for the Civic’s status as the nation’s number one selling passenger car and acknowledged the CR-V Hybrid’s leadership in the hybrid segment.
He also highlighted the dedication of Honda of Canada Mfg. associates, noting, “Every Civic and CR-V that leaves our Alliston, Ontario facilities carries their commitment to excellence that we know Canadians continue to recognize and trust.”
The Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) plants in Alliston, Ontario, have been producing various Civic and CR-V models since 1988. Remarkably, the Civic has been manufactured at HCM longer than at any other Honda plant worldwide, with over 6 million Civics produced at this facility. HCM also serves as the global lead plant for manufacturing the CR-V and the North American lead plant for the CR-V Hybrid. The facility will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026.
Legacy of the Civic and CR-V
The Civic holds the distinction of being Honda’s longest-running automotive nameplate, with approximately 2.3 million units sold in Canada since its introduction in 1973. Meanwhile, the CR-V has become Honda’s best-selling and most popular model in North America, with over 15 million units sold globally since its launch in 1995.
As Honda continues to innovate and expand its hybrid offerings, the impressive sales figures of the Civic and CR-V Hybrid signify not only a strong market presence but also a growing consumer preference for environmentally friendly vehicles. The future looks promising for Honda as it maintains its commitment to quality and sustainability in the automotive industry.
