Prairie Rose Public Schools Plans for Academic Growth in 2026
Prairie Rose Public Schools (PRPS) anticipates a year filled with academic advancements in 2026, following a productive 2025. With the recent transition in leadership due to elections, Superintendent Reagan Weeks expresses her confidence in the unwavering dedication of staff at all levels of the school division.
“Our teachers have continued to do really wonderful work with students,” Weeks stated. “We’ve seen a lot of academic growth and commitment to student success.” The school division has focused on several major initiatives, including the development of the Yuill School of Agriculture, which aims to provide a seamless educational journey in agricultural studies from elementary through to high school.
Innovative Educational Strategies
One of the significant themes in 2025 was the implementation of “vertical curriculum mapping.” This process enhances coordination among teachers across different grades, ensuring that students acquire essential skills before advancing to the next level. According to Weeks, this collaborative approach has energized educators.
“Teachers have been really excited about the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues teaching the same subjects,” she noted. “They are also connecting with teachers in the grades above and below.” This initiative aims to foster a strong foundation for students, preparing them effectively for future challenges.
Moreover, PRPS has made notable progress with its new before- and after-school care program located at Eagle Butte High School. This program not only supports students but also enhances their engagement in academic and extracurricular activities.
Future Aspirations and Strategic Goals
Looking ahead, the school division is set to expand its offerings, particularly in aviation education for junior high students. “We’re continuing to do some deep work in numeracy,” Weeks explained. “We want our teachers, as they pilot the new curriculum, to provide feedback and ensure they have the necessary resources.” This initiative aligns with the division’s commitment to educational excellence.
The strategic priorities of PRPS, encapsulated in the “Ignite Minds” framework, focus on fostering positive childhood experiences and building connections. Weeks emphasized the importance of incorporating leadership and public speaking components into all micro school programming. “We know how impactful programs like 4-H can be for students in building confidence and communication skills,” she added.
As PRPS prepares for 2026, the school division remains dedicated to nurturing academic growth and fostering an environment where students can thrive. With a strong foundation laid in 2025, the upcoming year promises exciting opportunities for innovation and student success.
