Prince Albert RCMP’s ‘Fill the Cruiser’ Fundraiser Boosts Food Bank

The Prince Albert RCMP successfully launched its inaugural ‘Fill the Cruiser’ Christmas Fundraiser on December 3, 2023, significantly benefiting the local food bank. The event took place from noon until 16:00 at Safeway and Lake Country Co-op, drawing strong support from community members.

The initiative resulted in a substantial donation of food items, which was delivered to the Prince Albert Food Bank the following day. Kim Scruby, Executive Director of the Food Bank, expressed gratitude, stating, “This is the largest food donation that we have seen this season. This means we can stock our shelves and help out more of those in need.”

The presence of RCMP officers during the fundraiser was particularly meaningful to the community. Scruby noted the ongoing efforts of the RCMP in maintaining safety, and she welcomed their initiative to engage in charitable work.

Among the officers on site was Cpl. Bryan Lefebvre, who played a key role in organizing the event. He mentioned that rising living costs prompted the fundraising campaign. “With the high cost of living and the cost of food items increasing, we felt that this will be a great opportunity for us to help out the community and give back,” Lefebvre said.

His sentiments were echoed by fellow officer Constable Olivia Tolmie, who assisted in packing the RCMP vehicle during the event. The collaborative effort highlighted the community spirit in Prince Albert, as many residents contributed food items and monetary donations.

Lefebvre expressed his appreciation for the overwhelming support from the community. “It feels really great. To be honest, I was not expecting anything less from the City of Prince Albert. There are so many great people around here. We got a lot of food and a lot of donations,” he remarked. He concluded with a heartfelt message: “Thank you to everybody who made this possible. Thank you and have a merry and safe Christmas.”
