APWG eCrime 2026 Symposium Set for November in Lisbon
The 2026 APWG Symposium on Electronic Crime Research (eCrime 2026) is scheduled to take place in Lisbon from November 2 to 6, 2026. This significant event marks the symposium’s third decade, focusing on crucial issues related to global cybercrime and its implications for users, businesses, and governments. The event is organized by the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) and is recognized as a premier platform for peer-reviewed research in the field of cybersecurity.
eCrime 2026 will feature general session presentations and discussions from November 3 to 5. The opening day will include eCrime Training Day Sessions, designed to provide skill-building opportunities for both researchers and industry practitioners. These sessions aim to foster knowledge transfer to the next generation of experts in the field. An invitation-only policy session is also planned for the final day, November 6.
The symposium will bring together a diverse array of participants, including experts from various industries, research centers, law enforcement agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Attendees can expect insightful discussions on contemporary cybercrime challenges and the sharing of innovative research findings.
Call for Research Papers and Training Proposals
The eCrime 2026 conference continues its tradition of soliciting research papers that explore critical areas of cybercrime. This year, organizers are particularly interested in topics surrounding cyber-physical systems, artificial intelligence, and the interplay between different system layers exploited by cybercriminals.
Key topics for submission include the role of malicious AI in criminal activities, vulnerabilities in operational technologies, and the societal impact of cybercrime. The deadline for paper submissions is May 30, 2026, with notifications of acceptance expected by June 30, 2026.
In addition to research papers, the symposium invites proposals for training sessions that will take place during the pre-conference Training Day. These sessions will cover various relevant topics, such as data analysis in cybercrime investigations and new modeling methods for assessing risks. Proposals for training sessions must be submitted by June 15, 2026.
Logistical Details and Participation
The eCrime 2026 symposium will be hosted at the InterContinental Lisbon, which will offer discounted accommodation rates for attendees. While there is no specific deadline for reservations at the hotel, changes to bookings must be finalized by August 4, 2026. Cancellations made after this date will incur full charges.
Participants are encouraged to register early and ensure their accommodation arrangements are secure. Discounts are available for students, IEEE members, and personnel from public-sector agencies. For further inquiries and to submit proposals, attendees can contact the event organizers via email at [email protected].
As the cybercrime landscape continues to evolve, eCrime 2026 promises to be a key platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and advancing research in the fight against cyber threats.
