Free Science Expo Ignites Curiosity at Tillicum Centre
A community-focused non-profit organization is hosting a free, hands-on science expo at the Tillicum Centre in Saanich on January 31, 2024. The event, organized by Passport to Science, aims to make science both enjoyable and accessible for all attendees.
The expo will feature two timed sessions: the first from 10:00 to 12:00 and the second from 12:00 to 14:00. Participants can engage with interactive exhibits designed to stimulate curiosity and encourage learning across various age groups. The activities will include opportunities to meet dinosaurs, explore robotics, study insects, and take part in hands-on experiments led by local science organizations.
The overarching goal of Passport to Science is to eliminate financial barriers to STEAM education—covering science, technology, engineering, art, and math. By providing free access to such experiences, the organization hopes to inspire the next generation of learners and innovators.
In addition to the exhibits, the expo will serve as a pre-order opportunity for the complimentary 2026 Passports to Science. This program offers guided explorations of partner STEAM organizations, with collection of the passports scheduled for a follow-up event during March break.
