Hands-On Science Expo Invites Families to Explore at Tillicum Centre
A community-driven non-profit organization is set to host a free, interactive science expo at the Tillicum Centre in Saanich on January 31, 2024. The event, organized by Passport to Science, aims to make science both enjoyable and accessible to families.
The expo will feature two timed sessions, running from 10:00 to 12:00 and again from 12:00 to 14:00. Attendees can expect a variety of engaging exhibits designed to spark curiosity and cater to learners of all ages. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet dinosaurs, explore robots, examine insects, and partake in hands-on experiments led by local science organizations.
The initiative focuses on breaking down financial barriers to STEAM education, which encompasses science, technology, engineering, art, and math. By providing a free platform for exploration and learning, Passport to Science hopes to foster a love for these subjects within the community.
In addition to the interactive exhibits, the science expo will serve as a pre-order opportunity for the 2026 Passports to Science. This program offers a guided exploration of partner STEAM organizations, with pick-up scheduled during a follow-up event in March.
Admission to the expo is free, but attendees are required to make reservations to manage attendance effectively. This measure ensures a comfortable and engaging experience for all participants.
