Surrey Resident Wins $89,762.50 in Bright Nights Raffle

A resident of Surrey, D. Bouillet, has become $89,762.50 richer after winning this year’s Bright Nights 50/50 raffle. The annual event, which offered a total jackpot of $179,525, aims to support the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund.

Tickets for the raffle were exclusively available to residents of British Columbia, with prices set at $15 each, $40 for three, $70 for six, and $250 for twenty-five. The entry deadline was December 23, 2023, at 23:59, with the draw taking place the following day, December 24, 2023, at noon.

Supporting Burn Survivors through Fundraising

The Bright Nights 50/50 raffle is part of a larger initiative associated with the Burn Fund’s most significant fundraising event, the Bright Nights light festival, which is currently held at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds in Surrey. The festival will conclude on December 28, 2023, and has become a beloved holiday tradition for many families in the area.

Proceeds from both the raffle and the festival play a critical role in funding year-round programs for burn survivors. These include the Burn Camp, which provides young burn survivors with an opportunity to connect and heal, and the Home Away Program, which offers accommodations for survivors and their families who must travel to Vancouver for medical treatment.

The Burn Fund represents over 4,800 professional firefighters from 56 communities across British Columbia and Yukon, underscoring the collective effort to support those affected by fire-related injuries. The Bright Nights initiative not only raises funds but also promotes community awareness around burn safety and recovery.
