Winnipeg Blue Bombers Extend All-Star Evan Holm for Two Years
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have solidified their defensive lineup by re-signing all-star halfback Evan Holm to a two-year contract extension. This decision comes as the team aims to maintain its competitive edge in the Canadian Football League (CFL) ahead of the upcoming free agency period, which begins on February 8, 2024.
Holm, who has been a key player for the Bombers over the past four seasons, enjoyed a standout year in 2025. He was recognized as a CFL all-star for the first time and received the Bombers’ Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award. During the season, he recorded a team-high four interceptions, two forced fumbles, and a total of 61 tackles, appearing in all 18 regular-season games. The 27-year-old has demonstrated remarkable durability by not missing a single game in the last three seasons.
The Bombers’ secondary, which ranked as the second-best pass defense in the CFL last season, will retain much of its core. In addition to Holm’s extension, starting defensive backs Deatrick Nichols and Redha Kramdi have also re-signed with the team. Meanwhile, Cam Allen is already under contract for 2026, further solidifying the team’s defensive strategy.
Despite these positive developments, the Bombers face uncertainty with several defensive backs, including Demerio Houston, Terrell Bonds, and Michael Griffin, who remain unsigned. The team has also released cornerback Jamal Parker, creating opportunities for new talent as the free agency period approaches.
With Holm back in the fold, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are poised to build on their defensive strengths. The team’s commitment to retaining key players will be crucial as they prepare for the challenges of the upcoming season.
