Dixon High School Honors James Cocar as December Student of the Month

James Cocar, a senior at Dixon High School, has been named the student of the month for December. This recognition highlights his academic achievements and contributions to the school community. Cocar is the son of Bunyan and Rachel Cocar, and he has a brother named John.

Cocar has expressed his enthusiasm for learning, particularly in AP Calculus, which he finds both challenging and rewarding. “AP Calculus is very engaging as it heavily challenges me but is extremely rewarding mastering new topics,” he stated. Looking ahead, Cocar aims to pursue a career in STEM, with a focus on mechanical engineering. He plans to dual major in mechanical engineering and saxophone performance, ensuring that his passion for music continues alongside his technical pursuits. “I would like to keep music in my life by gigging and playing in professional ensembles,” he noted.

He participates in both scholastic bowl and the municipal band, which he describes as among his favorite community activities.
