The aircraft, registered as C-GYCM, incorporates Merrick’s initials, with the “C” and “M” symbolizing her legacy. He stated, “Dedicating this aircraft is a meaningful way to honor her legacy and our shared commitment to ensuring communities are never left without access to vital services.”

Cathy Merrick passed away suddenly at the age of 63 on September 6, 2024, after collapsing outside the Winnipeg law courts. Her body lay in state at the Manitoba legislature, allowing the community to pay their respects.
