Fort Erie Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Stabbing
A 27-year-old man from Fort Erie, Ontario, has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing incident left a woman in critical condition. According to the Niagara Regional Police, officers responded to a disturbance call at approximately 5:45 a.m. on March 16, 2024, at a residence on George Rd.. Upon arriving at the scene, police were informed that a female victim had sustained multiple stab wounds and had fled the location.
The police quickly evacuated the victims and surrounding apartments to ensure safety. One woman was transported to a hospital outside the region with life-threatening injuries, while another female received treatment for minor injuries on-site. Officers engaged in negotiations with the male suspect, who surrendered peacefully at around 10:21 a.m..
The suspect, identified as Patrick Sassano, now faces several charges, including attempted murder, intimidation by violence, and two counts of assault. Investigation into Kitchener Fire
Separately, an investigation is ongoing following a residential fire in downtown Kitchener, Ontario, early on Sunday morning. Emergency services responded to reports of an apartment fire in the Queen St.-Charles St. area at approximately 4:10 a.m.. Fire crews from Kitchener were able to extinguish the blaze promptly.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries resulting from the fire. The cause of the incident has not yet been determined, and inquiries are continuing.
